Cavs Celebrate Alumni Day with Convincing Win Over Wesley

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team celebrated their Alumni Day in style this afternoon following a 98-43 final over the visiting Wesley College Wolverines.

In a game where every Cavalier saw the floor, freshman Ariana McGeary paced the Blue and White with a game high 17 points in just nine minutes of action. She finished a perfect 8-8 from the field, while adding six rebounds. Senior Meghan Matthews and freshman Hannah Fenstermacher rounded out the Cavs in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Fellow rookie Sydney Kesselman chipped in nine points and six rebounds.

Cabrini opened the game with a commanding 17-0 run that spanned the first 3:22 of the quarter. A layup from Wesley's Katelyn Watson ended the visitors drought off an assist from Angelique Gathers. The Cavs would end the quarter on an 8-2 spurt, highlighted by fastbreak layups from junior Lexi Edwards and senior Cassidy Gallagher

The Cavaliers continued to add to their lead throughout the second stanza, ultimately ending the half with a 38 point cushion courtesy of a 52-14 advantage. They would balloon their lead to a game high 55 points in the fourth quarter thanks to a triple from sophomore Abigail Fricke.

In total, the Cavalier defense forced a season high 31 turnovers, while allowing a season low 43 points.

The Wolverines' Lekeshia Brown-Myrick tallied a team high 13 points and five rebounds. Gathers added nine points and four rebounds.

Following today's action, the Blue and White improve to 13-5 overall and 5-0 in Atlantic East Conference play. They will take aim at their third consecutive victory on Wednesday, January 29th when they travel to Immaculata, PA to face take on the Mighty Macs. Tip off is slated for 6pm.
