CORTLAND, NY – The Cavaliers could not overcome Cortland's hot shooting today, as the Cabrini men's basketball team saw its losing streak grow to five games with today's 102-62 loss to the Red Dragons.
Sophomore
Voshon Mack led the Blue and White with 22 points, while senior
Keith Blassingale added 14 points and a career high eight assists.
The game featured four early ties, but with the score deadlocked at 13, the home side went on a 13-1 run, including three consecutive made three pointers.
Cortland's three point accuracy would become a theme today, as the Red Dragons hit 10-22 from deep in a first half that saw the team connect on .541 from the floor en route to a 54-27 halftime lead.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers could not find their collective touch, hitting just 11-35 from the floor in the stanza, including 1-14 from three point range.
The halftime break did nothing to disrupt the home team's offensive rhythm, as it drained 10-19 from three point range in the second half and shot .472 from the floor.
The Cavaliers committed a season low six turnovers in the loss, but could not convert that into offensive efficiency, as the team's 62 points, .343 field goal percentage, and 33 rebounds ranked among its lowest outputs of the season.
Austin Grunder led the Red Dragons (7-2) with 17 points and 23 rebounds, while Ryan Schmadel scored a team high 18 points, accounting for six of the team's 20 three pointers.
The Cavaliers (3-9) will not turn their collective focus to Atlantic East Conference play, which is slated to open on Wednesday. Cabrini will make its league debut at Neumann (6-6) at 8pm.
