Cold Shooting 2nd Half Costs Men's Basketball in Conference Opener

ASTON, PA – After shooting north of .400 from the floor in the first half, the Cabrini men's basketball team could not carry its offensive rhythm into the second stanza, as the Cavaliers lost to Neumann 65-49 in the Atlantic East Conference opener for both teams.

The Knights jumped out to an early 9-2 run before the Cavaliers rallied. Trailing 17-11 midway through the first half, the Blue and White mounted its comeback.

Over an eight minute span late in the stanza, the Cavaliers used a 14-2 spurt to establish a 25-19 lead on a lay-up by senior Keith Blassingale at the 2:31 mark.

Cabrini maintained its lead through the final minutes of the half, as sophomore Ryan Byars' bucket sent the Blue and White into the halftime break with a 33-28 lead.

The Cavaliers pushed their lead to a game high nine points just 90 seconds into the second half, as junior Brice Parks hit Byars for a jumper and a 39-30 advantage.

With 15:27 to play, junior Billy Warren offensive rebound and put back gave Cabrini a seemingly comfortable 44-36 lead. The comfort was short-lived as the Blue and White scored just five more points in the game.

Over the game's final 15 minutes, the Cavaliers shot just 2-23 and committed six of its 15 turnovers. The Knights took full advantage, scoring 29 of the game's final 34 points.
