READING, PA – Despite watching its 10-4 halftime lead wither in the second half, the Cabrini women's lacrosse team used a late scoring stretch to pull away from Albright 18-13 in the season opener for both teams.
Six Cavaliers marked the scoring column today, led by sophomore
Dana Carlson, who stuffed the stat sheet with seven points on four goals and three assists, four caused turnovers, three ground balls and three draw controls.
Junior
Taylor Dimmerling scored five goals on the night, reaching the 100 career point milestone. Sophomore
Shea Neary matched Dimmerling with five goals and secured five draw controls.

Sam Hamalak earned the victory with 10 saves in the Blue and White cage.
The Lions opened the scoring just 27 seconds after the opening whistle and led 2-1 just over five minutes into the game, but the Cavaliers responded with a string of seven unanswered goals, with Neary and Dimmerling finding the back of net twice.
Dimmerling and Carlson added goals in the final two minutes of the stanza, but an Albright goal just before the break sent the teams into halftime with Cabrini leading 10-4.
The Lions carried the momentum from the end of the first half into the second, outscoring the Blue and White 7-2 in the first half of the second stanza to slice Cabrini's lead to just 12-11 with 14:26 to play.
A Carlson free position shot at the 13:20 mark changed the game's momentum, sparking the Cavaliers to a 5-0 run, extending the Blue and White cushion to 17-11 on Neary's goal with 4:06 to play.
The home team owned a 28-27 advantage in shots and a 23-22 advantage in shots on goal. The Lions also won 22 of the game's 32 draws.

Lauren Hughes added two goals for the Cavaliers, while freshman
Victoria Zielke paired her first collegiate goal with a helper. Senior
Mattie Porter paired a goal and two caused turnovers, while freshman
Alyssa Kolasa caused three turnovers.
Abigail Hai led the Lions (0-1) with four goals, while Lauren China, Kelly Baumann and Chloe Fornoff added two goals each. Goaltender Terae Mason recorded four saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will make their 2020 Edith Robb Dixon Field debut on Thursday, when they play host to Ursinus College (0-0). The opening draw is slated for 3:30pm.
