RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini baseball team dropped their third consecutive game this afternoon after falling to No. 23 ranked Rowan University by a 13-7 final.
The Cavs trailed by just one heading into the seventh inning, but a four run eighth and three run ninth for the Profs proved too much for the Diamond Cavs.
Offensively, the Cavaliers were paced by junior
Mack McKisson. The outfielder paired three hits, including a pair of doubles, and four RBI's. Classmates
Brendan Van Belle and
JD Barrett tallied the Cavs other two RBI's with one each. Senior
Shaun Stackhouse reached base three times and scored three runs, while collecting steal number 10 and 11 on the season.
Senior
Kyran Weemaels was saddled with the loss after allowing six hits and six runs (five earned) in three innings. Classmate
Andrew Corso came on in relief and delivered four clean innings for the Blue and White. The veteran allowed three hits and needed just 46 pitches.
The Profs found success early against Weemaels as they pushed across two runs in the first, second and third inning. The Cavs answered with a run in the first and two in the second as they trailed 6-3 heading into the fourth. McKisson accounted for all three of the Cavs aforementioned runs as he clubbed an RBI double to right center in the first and followed it up with a two RBI single up the middle in the second.
Corso would come on in relief of Weemaels and quiet the Profs offense with four strong innings of relief. The Blue and White tallied a run in the fifth and sixth to pull to within one as the two teams headed into the seventh. A bases loaded walk from Barrett and a balk from Rowan's Patrick Sudnikovich with McKisson on third accounted for the Cavs pair of runs.
Rowan would answer, however as they struck for seven runs in the final two frames, highlighted by a three run homer from Mitch Walker.
Following today's game, the Cavs move to 5-7 overall. They will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, March 11th when they host cross road rival Eastern University at 3pm.
