Women's Basketball Advances to ECAC Championship Following 77-60 Victory Over Mustangs

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team coasted to a comfortable 77-60 victory this afternoon over the No. 4 seeded Stevenson University Mustangs in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Semifinal.

Junior Kate Lannon led the offense with 19 points on 8-10 shooting, including 3-5 from beyond the arc. The forward added six rebounds and two blocks. Classmate Ashley Tutzuaer netted 16 points and a team high nine rebounds, while senior Meghan Matthews and junior Lexi Edwards chipped in 14 points each.

After trailing 8-7 midway through the opening stanza, the Cavs used a 12-2 run to take a 19-9 lead with 3:28 left in the quarter. A triple from Stevenson's Hannah Crist followed by a free throw from Olivia Coleman briefly trimmed the visitors deficit to six points, but a fastbreak jumper from Edwards and a Tutzauer three handed the Cavs a 24-13 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Blue and White added to their lead in the second quarter, fueled by a strong defensive effort as they limited the Mustangs to nine points on just three made field goals.

A 10-0 run to open the third quarter put the game on ice for the Blue and White as they ballooned their lead to 27 points following a three ball from Lannon. The junior would later drill a fourth quarter jumper to hand the Cavaliers their largest lead of the game at 73-42.

The Mustangs would close the game on a 17-4 run for the eventual 77-60 final.

Stevenson was led by Hanna Crist's 13 points, while Olivia Coleman and Denia Campbell added 12 and 11 points respectively. Coleman grabbed a game high 11 rebounds to collect the double double.

Following today's game, the Cavs improve to 21-8 overall and advance to the ECAC Championship for the second consecutive season. They will face No. 7 seeded Drew University in Sunday's finale at 1pm.

No. 7 Drew 78, No. 3 RPI 69
The Rangers capped their second upset in as many days as they knocked off third seeded RPI in Saturday's second ECAC semifinal matchup by way of a 78-69 final.

Drew used a 28 point fourth quarter to pull away late from the Engineers and advance to Sunday's championship bout against the top seeded Cavaliers.

Erin Frederick paced the Rangers with a game high 24 points, while adding five rebounds and three assists. Joey Meyers and Sekya Campbell chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.

RPI was led by Sam Krumbhaar and Celia Tomlinson who combined for 35 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

As mentioned, the Rangers will now turn their attention to the Cavaliers in Sunday's ECAC Championship. Tip off is slated for 1pm.
