ITHACA, NY – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team could not find any late game heroics today, as the No. 3 Cavaliers suffered an 11-9 loss at Ithaca College.
The loss marks Blue and White's (3-1) first defeat since March 27, 2019, a snapping a string of 18 straight victories.

The Bombers opened the scoring in the game's early minutes, but the Cavaliers responded, as Gerzabek and LoParo found the back of the net in a span of 61 seconds.
Cabrini carried its 2-1 lead into the second quarter, but Ithaca wasted little time evening the score. Wesner put the Cavaliers back into the lead at the 9:24 mark of the period. LoParo's man-up goal midway through the second period gave the Cavaliers a 4-2 advantage.
Backto back Ithaca goals evened the game with 3:47 left in the period. Both teams exchanged goals in the final two minutes of the quarter, sending the game into the half tied at 5-5.
Gerzabek's goal four minutes into the third put the Blue and White ahead, but the Bombers responded with back to back tallies to take a 7-6 lead with 6:19 left in the third. Kostack found Tucker one minute later to even the score, but a late Ithaca tally gave the home side a slim 8-7 lead with 15 minutes to play.
The Bombers pushed their lead to two goals four minutes into the final stanza before Gerzabek's third goal pulled Cabrini back to within 9-8 with 10:12 to play. Ithaca won the ensuing faceoff and found the back of the net on its third shot of the possession.

Jake Klein marked the score sheet. Again, Ithaca controlled the next faceoff, making the most of the possession with its 11th goal of the afternoon.
The Cavaliers recorded five of their nine fourth quarter shots in the final four minutes of the game, but could not find their way past Ithaca goaltender Robby Atwood, who finished the day with 15 saves.
Connor Till led the Bombers (2-2) with three goals and an assist, while Connor Brumfield and Jae Stuhlman scored twice. Aaron McCartney anchored the defense with four caused turnovers and eight ground balls.
The Cavaliers will look to rebound on Tuesday, as they play host to the Hampden-Sydney College Tigers (4-1). The opening faceoff is slated for 3pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
