WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Cabrini swim teams opened their 2021-22 seasons today, with a pair of impressive victories at King's (PA).
The men scored a 133-72 victory, while the women topped the Monarchs 115-85. Of the 22 events in the meet, the Cavaliers earned 17 victories.
Senior
Maddie Werndl led the women with three victories on the day. The senior reached the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:06.0), 100-yard butterfly (1:08.70) and 500-yard freestyle (5:54.41).
Graduate students
Tara McCloskey and senior
Sarah Gudas added a pair of wins. McCloskey was triumphant in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.83) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.36), while Gudas posted winning times in the 50-yard freestyle (26.91) and 100-yard freestyle (58.45).

Kate Ziegler and senior
Tara Frino for a winning performance in the 200-yard medley relay, the first event of the day, reaching the wall in 2:00.63.

Mac Granto and sophomore
Tommy Ronayne each scored a pair of wins to lead the men's squad. Granto narrowly defeated sophomore
Colin Taggart in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.85) and 100-yard freestyle (50.33), while the sophomore claimed victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.11) and 100-yard butterfly (56.93).

Logan DeConti and sophomore
Michael Gray in a winning effort in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:43.79.
Senior
Cameron Mousley added a win in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.11) to a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Sophomore
Matt Seifried scored a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.58), while DeConti reached the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke (57.47).
The men also closed the meet on a high note, as Taggart and Seifried joined junior
Kenneth Lok and sophomore
Tom McLaughlin in winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:33.82.
The Cavaliers will return to action next Saturday, when they get their first look at Atlantic East Conference opposition. Cabrini will travel to St. Mary's City, MD, where it will face Immaculata, Marymount and the host Seahawks.
