ARLINGTON, VA– A strong first half led the Cabrini University women's soccer team to a 2-0 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) victory at Marymount University.
The Cavaliers controlled the play in the first half as they outshot the Saints eight to three. The Blue and White also held a 2-0 advantage in corners during the second half.
Junior
Rylie Butler opened the scoring in the 25th minute with her fourth goal of the year as she fired a shot from outside of the box and into the top left corner of the net, assisted by graduate student
Maria Hagan, 1-0.
It remained a one goal game until the Cavs were awarded a corner just over two minutes into the second frame. After a scramble inside of the box, senior
Kait Cloud headed the ball in to make it 2-0, Hagan notched her second assist of the game on the play.
With two assists on the day, Hagan recorded the first multi-assist game of her career.
The Cavs outshot the home team 13 to nine over the course of the game and held a four to two advantage in corners. Butler recorded a team-high three shots on goal, while sophomore
Paige Bowman and junior
Kelly Kane each attempted two shots on goal.
On the backend keeper
Ashley Tutzauer and the Cabrini defense locked things down over the remainder of the game. Tutzauer finished the game with seven saves including four in the second half for her seventh shutout of the season.
Following last night's game, the Blue and White improve to 8-5-2 overall and 4-1 in Atlantic East Conference play. Cabrini now holds sole possession of second place in the conference. They will travel to Hackettstown, NJ this Saturday to close out the regular season versus the Centenary University Cyclones. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm.
