ARLINGTON, VA – The Cabrini volleyball team climbed to the top of the Atlantic East Conference tonight, as it scored a 3-2 victory at Marymount University.
The thrilling 25-15, 8-25, 30-28, 25-17, 15-13 win closed the Blue and White's conference slate with a perfect 6-0 mark and secured the number one seed in next week's Atlantic East Conference Tournament. The Cavaliers now have a bye into Thursday's semifinal round and will have home court advantage.
The victory marked Cabrini's first ever win at Marymount and snapped a three match losing streak to the Saints.
Senior
Hannah Dalton led a Cabrini attack that featured seven players with at least five kills on the night. The senior paired 20 kills and 16 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. Junior

Sam Heenan added seven kills each.

With Cabrini holding a slim 13-1 lead in the first set, the Cavaliers used a 8-2 spurt to put some distance between itself and the Saints. The home side pulled to within five points three times in the late stages of the set, but the Blue and White held firm to capture the opening set.
The Saints found their rhythm in the second set, as they jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back, evening the match at one set apiece.
Much of third set went back and forth. The Cavaliers methodically built a seemingly comfortable 22-16 lead before Marymount stormed back. Minutes later a bad Saints' set gave Cabrini a set point. The Saints then fought off six consecutive set points to even the score at 24.
Over the next several minutes, both teams reached set point, but neither could get over the hump. That changed with the score tied at 28, as a Marymount kill and service ace put the home team ahead two sets to one.
The Cavaliers gained a slim lead early in the fourth set and never let it go. Leading 13-10, the Blue and White scored six straight points, extending its lead to 19-10. Marymount pulled to within 21-17 but kills by Camacho, sophomore

The Saints established an 8-6 lead midway through the final set, when sophomore
Lily Baynum made her mark on the frame. The sophomore joined Dalton for a block and added a pair of kills to give Cabrini a 10-8 lead.
The Saints evened the score at 10 and 11 before a Cotes-Rivers kill and Marymount attack error put the Cavaliers ahead 13-11. The home team responded with two points of its own, marking the fourth deadlock of the set.
The Cavaliers were then beneficiaries of back to back Marymount miscues, an attack error and ball handling error, sealing the Cabrini victory.
Cabrini will try to carry tonight's momentum into Saturday's season ending tri-match. The Cavaliers will welcome Stevenson and Misericordia Universities to campus for a day of volleyball action, which will get under way at 11am.
Saturday's action will also mark the team's annual Dig Pink match, with all proceeds going to Unite for Her, whose mission is to bridge the gap for breast and ovarian cancer patients, focusing on wellness initiatives that will positively impact their health.
