ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The Cabrini swim teams got their first taste of Atlantic East Conference competition today, as it faced St. Mary's, Immaculata and Marymount.
The Blue and White men defeated the host Seahawks 139-54, Immaculata 155-29 and Marymount 141-51, while the women topped Immaculata 131-61, while suffering narrow losses to St. Mary's 116-81 and Marymount 116-87.
The Cabrini men put on an impressive performance today, scoring victories in eight of the 11 events. Senior
Mac Granto and sophomore
Tommy Ronayne led the way with two individual victories each.
Granto scored wins in the 50-yard freestyle (22.78) and 100-yard freestyle (49.72), while Ronayne reached the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.62) and 500-yard freestyle (5:02.69).
Both also participated in relay victories that bookended the day's action. Granto joined freshman
Logan DeConti and sophomores
Michael Gray and
Matt Seifried to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:45.30.
In the last event of the meet, Ronayne teamed with classmates
Tom McLaughlin,
Kenneth Lok and
Colin Taggart in a victorious effort tin the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:32.55).
Senior
Cameron Mousley also claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.44), while Gray added a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.94).
For the second consecutive week, senior
Maddie Werndl made three appearances at the top of the podium. The senior claimed victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:01.50), 200-yard freestyle (2:09.19) and 500-yard freestyle (5:53.68).

Tara McCloskey scored a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.63) and finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.7), while classmate
Sarah Gudas reached the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle (58.86) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (27.49).
The Cavaliers will make their home debut on Saturday at 1pm, when they play host to Elizabethtown and Bryn Mawr Colleges.
