RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team opened Atlantic East Conference play tonight with a resounding 5-2 victory over Centenary at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The Blue and White's five goal outburst, which included four goals in the opening 25 minutes, marked the first time since October 25, 2017 that the Cavaliers had scored five goals, a span of 55 matches.
Senior
Nick Booth led the Cavaliers with a pair of goals, while sophomores
Nick LoBiondo and
Nolan Holloway joined freshman
Trent Valle in the scorebook.
The home side wasted almost no time in gaining an advantage on the scoreboard, as senior
Josh Cunningham found LoBiondo for his team-leading fifth goal of the season just 61 seconds after the opening whistle.
The lead didn't last long, as Centenary's Kenneth Pinedo leveled the score in the fifth minute.
Cabrini responded in the eighth minute, as LoBiondo added an assist to his night's work, finding Valle for his second marker of the campaign.
Five minutes later, senior
Dakota Bauer's corner kick service found Booth to extend the lead to 3-1. Holloway got on the board in the 25
th minute, converting a pass from junior
Jake Scully into his first goal of the season.
The Cavaliers carried their 4-1 lead in the half after outshooting the Cyclones 7-3 and forcing eight first half corner kicks.
Fifteen minutes into the second stanza, Booth added his second goal, a deep, curling effort from the left sideline that found the inside of the far right post.
Cabrini closed the action with a 13-6 advantage in shots and 13 corner kicks to just three for Centenary.
Sophomore goaltender
MJ Graham returned to the line-up, recording one save.
Senior Nik Polizos scored a second half goal and accounted for two of Centenary's sis shots on the night, while junior goaltender Andrew Tarkazikis notched three saves.
The Cavaliers will look to build a win streak on Saturday when they pay a visit to Gwynedd Mercy. Kickoff is slated for 3pm.
