Men's Soccer Overpowers Gwynedd Mercy 5-1

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – For the second consecutive match, the Cabrini men's soccer team found the back of the net five times, as the Cavaliers rolled to a 5-0 win at Gwynedd Mercy.

Five different Cavaliers accounted for the scoring, as the Blue and White outshot the Griffins 21-3, including 14-2 in shots on target.

Senior Tyler Jankowski was the only player to mark the scoring column in the first half, as he converted a pass from classmate Nick Booth into his fifth goal of the season.

Cabrini carried its 1-0 lead into the second half, but just after the opening whistle of the second stanza, the Griffins evened the score. Tyler Bascone's 46th minute marker evened the score on the home side's only shot on goal of the second half.

Just minutes later, the Cavaliers regained control of the scoreboard, as sophomore Nick LoBiondo recorded his team-leading sixth goal in the 54th minute. Ten minutes later, senior Ben Cahill added his first goal of the campaign.

Sophomores Cormac Dooley and Ty McKlaine got in the scorebook in the 81 and 88th minutes respectively, marking their first collegiate goals. Classmate Na'im Roberts also etched his name on the score sheet, assisting McKlaine's goal for his first career point.

Eleven Cavaliers accounted for the club's season-high 21 shots on the day, with Jankowski and LoBiondo attempting four each.

Sophomore goaltender MJ Graham was called on for one first half save to earn the victory, improving to 4-0 on the season.

The Cavaliers will look to stay hot on Tuesday, when they visit Immaculata in a rematch of the 2019 Atlantic East Conference championship match. Kickoff is slated for 4pm.
