Women's Soccer Advances to AEC Semifinal

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini University women's soccer team used a pair of second half goals to edge the No. 7 seeded Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins 2-0 in today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Quarterfinal.

Graduate student Maria Hagan and junior Rebekah Cunningham paced an aggressive Blue and White attack with four shots apiece, while three others tallied two each. In total, Cabrini finished with a commanding 24-1 advantage in shots, including a 10-0 mark in shots on goal.

Following a scoreless first half, Hagan opened the scoring in the 59th minute as she redirected a perfectly placed kick from Cunningham to make it 1-0 in favor of the home team.
The Cavaliers continued to press and were rewarded in the 75th minute as junior defender Jamie Falgie lobbed a shot up and over the Griffins netminder, 2-0. Falgie's goal was the first of her career.
Gwynedd Mercy keeper, Molly Flemming, kept the Griffins within reach as the Cavaliers had several high-scoring opportunities late in the game, including a pair of back-to-back shots which deflected off of the crossbar.

Flemming finished the night with eight saves after facing 24 shots in the loss.
On the other end of the field, graduate student Ashley Tutzauer earned her eighth shutout of the season behind a stellar defensive performance from the Cavs backline.

Following today's match, the Cavaliers improve to 9-5-3 overall, 4-1-1 in the AEC. They will host the No. 4 seeded Neumann University Knights in the AEC Semifinal on Wednesday, November 3rd. Kickoff is slated for 7PM.
