Game Recap: Soccer (Women) |

Women's Soccer Clinches Berth in AEC Title Game

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer is headed to the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) finals for the third time since 2017, following today's 2-0 victory over Neumann University.

The Cavaliers controlled the majority of the play throughout the game as they held a 17-5 advantage in shots, while also edging the Knights 8-4 in shots on goal. The Cavs also held a decided advantage in corner kicks, 5-1 in favor of the home team.

The Cavs opened the game with an aggressive pace as they tallied the first goal at the seven minute mark. A scramble ensued inside the box following a Brianna Blair throw-in a Neumann player failed to head the ball out of danger. Maria Hagan attempted to bury the loose ball but her attempt was blocked. Kait Cloud collected the Hagan rebound and fired it into the bottom left corner of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

Cabrini doubled its lead in the 32nd minute, as sophomore Amanda Elwell dove into the net to get her head on an Anna Bond corner kick, 2-0. Elwell's goal was her first as a Cavalier.

The Cavaliers did not allow a shot over the remaining 13 minutes of the first half as they went into the break ahead by two.

Both teams applied offensive pressure in the second stanza as each team put three shots on frame in the final 45 minutes, but none were ultimately able to find the back of the net.

Cavalier netminder Ashley Tutzauer was up for the task as she made a total of four saves on the day. Tutzauer earned her fifth consecutive AEC playoff shutout dating back to the 2019 season.

With the victory, head Coach Ken Prothero now sits at 200 career wins.

In the teams' most recent trips to the conference finals, the Cavaliers defeated Marywood 2-1 in 2017 and 2-0 in 2019. The Cavs will face the No. 1 seeded Pacers in the finals once again as they head to Scranton, PA this Saturday, November 6. Kickoff is slated for 1PM
