MADISON, NJ – The Cabrini field hockey season came to an end today, as the Cavaliers suffered a 2-1 loss at FDU-Florham in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament.
The loss caps the Blue and White season with an 11-9, including the 2021 Atlantic East Conference title.
The defeat also closes the career for Cabrini's six seniors,
Shannon Agnew,
Lily Bonner,
Allison Martin,
Kaitlyn Martin,
Lindsey Pozaic and
Kelly Sweeney.
As a group, this class made 294 appearance in the Blue and White and accounted for 68 points on 27 goals and 14 assists with seven defensive saves. The also led the program's turnaround from seven combined wins as freshman and sophomores to 11 wins and a conference championship as seniors.
Cabrini fell behind in the 10th minute, but looked to even the score in the final minutes of the opening quarter, recording two penalty corners and a shot on goal but to no avail.

Allison Martin to even the score in the 22nd minute. Cabrini turned to its defense late in the frame, as it fought off three late penalty corners to keep the score tied at 1-1 at the halftime break.
Both teams pressed to secure a lead in the third period, but both defenses remained strong. The teams combined for nine penalty corners and five shots in the period, but the score remained tied until the 44th minute, when FDU senior Haleigh Flukey converted a penalty stroke, which proved to be the difference.
The Cavaliers looked to even the score in the final minutes, as they recorded a pair of penalty corners and two shots on target, but both attempts on net were turned away by Devils' goaltender Megan March.

Freshman goaltender
Courtney Keith suffered the loss despite notching four saves.
Flukey accounted for four of FDU's seven shots, including both goals, while March tallied six saves.
