Men's Basketball Silences the Bulldogs

BROOKLYN, NY – Three Cavaliers scored in double figures today, as the Cavaliers topped Brooklyn College 74-66. The win marks the Blue and White's first back to back wins since January 29 and Feb. 1.

Sophomore Josh Jones led the Cavaliers with a career best 19 points on 6-9 shooting off the bench to go with six rebounds. Senior Billy Warren's 17 points also marked a career best, while his four blocked shots fell just shy.

Senior Brice Parks added 12 points off the bench, while classmate Ryan Byars had a monster night on the glass, securing 16 defensive rebounds, also a career high.

The Cavaliers got off to a great start, as they used an early 15-1 run to secure the lead for good just six minutes into the action. Warren and Parks combined to score all 18 points, as the Blue and White built an 18-4 lead.

Cabrini maintained its double digit lead throughout much of the opening stanza, but a late 8-2 Brooklyn run sliced the Cavaliers' lead to 32-26 with just under three minutes left until the half.

The Blue and White got 22 points from its bench and shot .433 from the floor, as it held a 36-29 lead at the halftime break.

The Cavaliers turned up their offensive efficiency in the second half, connecting on 14 of their 26 attempts from the field.

While its offensive rhythm helped push the lead to 17 points in the second stanza, its 12 second half turnovers, which the Bulldogs converted into 16 points, helped the home team pull within eight points on several occasions in the second half.

For the game, the Cavaliers shot a tick over .480 from the field, while holding Brooklyn to .338, including 8-22 from the three point line.

Junior Christian Lane finished the night with eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while sophomore Aquil Stewart also tallied seven dimes.

Zuric Harvey led Brooklyn (0-3) with 23 points and seven boards.

The Cavaliers will make their home debut on Tuesday, when they play host to Elizabethtown College. Tipoff is slated for 7pm inside Nerney Field House.
