#8 Men's Lacrosse Opens Conference Play with Resounding Win

IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team opened Atlantic East Conference play with a resounding 23-2 victory at Immaculata today. The win improved the No. 8 Cavaliers to 3-1 on the season and extended their NCAA-record conference win streak to 122 games.

Twelve Cavaliers marked the scoring column today, as the club outshot the Mighty Macs 62-19.

Freshmen Max Drift and Tommy Vaughan led the Blue and White with four goals each, with Vaughan's marking the first of his collegiate career.

Five players also recorded two goals each, including junior Kyle Tucker, who added four assists. Seniors Mike Gerzabek and Jake Klein joined freshman Dan Bennett with two helpers each.

Junior Evan Trizonis, sophomore Seamus Hogan and freshman Jake Cavanaugh caused two turnovers each, as the Cavaliers pressured the home team into 26 turnovers on the day.

Junior Blake Turner and sophomore Jake Huey combined to go 13-16 at the faceoff spot, while three Cabrini goaltenders saw action in the victory. Freshman Matt Sageder earned the victory after recording three saves, with freshmen Rob Pensabene and Brendan King seeing action in relief.

The Blue and White scored early and often, as the visitors owned a 4-0 lead just over three minutes after the opening whistle. The cushion swelled to 9-0 after a first quarter that saw Drift net each of his four markers on the day.

Cabrini led 12-0 before Immaculata's Trey Rorer put the Mighty Macs on the board at the nine minute mark of the second period. The goal was only a temporary pause for the Blue and White attack, who built a comfortable 18-1 lead at the half.

Freshmen Griffin Ganster, Bryan Rafferty and Logan Cleary also joined Vaughan with their first collegiate goals.

Sean Evans joined Rorer on the Mighty Macs' (1-2, 0-1 Atlantic East) score sheet, while Bobby Bausman went 12-25 at the faceoff spot and secured a game-high eight ground balls. Despite the loss, the Immaculata goaltending combination of Cole Metzger and Matthew Kirkland combined for 23 saves.

The Cavaliers will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Wednesday night, as they play host to Wesley College (0-2, 0-1 Atlantic East). The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7pm.
