Offense Erupts for Season High 16 Runs in Win Over Marywood

RADNOR, PA - The Cavalier offense erupted for a season high 16 runs in today's 16-8 victory over the visiting Marywood University Pacers.

The Cavs scored a run in six of their eight frames, including a five run inning in the bottom of the eighth to bust the game open. Senior Steven Priest powered the offensive outburst as the veteran finished the day 3-6 with a double, two home runs and a career high six RBIs.

Fellow senior Mack McKisson added four RBIs on a pair of hits, while sophomore Christian Strickland added his fourth long ball of the season and three RBIs. Junior Garrett Laraia and sophomore Earl Kochel IV combined for six hits, four runs and two RBIs. In total, eight of nine starters marked the hit column.

Junior Jonathan Baker toed the rubber for the Blue and White and picked up his second victory of the season after tossing 5.1 innings and allowing five earned. The righty was a victim of the long ball as four of his five runs allowed came via the a solo home run. Otherwise, he managed the keep the Pacers off balance as he logged a career high nine strikeouts.

As mentioned, the Pacers took advantage of a few mistakes early as they struck for three solo home runs in the first three innings. An RBI double off the center field wall from Marywood's Mike Tempel pushed the visitors lead 4-0 heading into the bottom of the third.

A two-run homer from Strickland in the ensuing frame, his fourth of the season, cut the Pacers' lead in half to put the Cavs on the board. His home run would serve as a jump start to the offense as they would go on to score two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while pushing across three runs in the seventh and five in the eighth.

Priest highlighted the remaining action with a pair of two run home runs in both the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, while also nearly launching his third homer of the game in the eighth. The veteran settled for a  two RBI double off the left center field wall to plate McKisson and Van Belle.

Junior Joey Moyer earned the multi inning save after coming in with a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth.

Marywood's Tyler Quick was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs on six hits in two innings of relief.

Following today's game, the Cavs improve to 3-4 overall. They will look to add to the win column this weekend when they travel to Scranton, PA to cap the three game series against the Pacers. Saturday's first pitch is slated for 12pm.
