Softball Can't Find Offense at Wesley

DOVER, DE – Despite owing one of the nation's top batting averages, the Cabrini softball team could not find its offensive rhythm today, as the Cavaliers suffered a pair of shutout losses at Wesley College.

The defeats dropped the Blue and White to 11-5 in the Atlantic East Conference.

Game 1: Wesley 4, Cabrini 0
Cabrini freshman pitcher Avery Byrnes and Wesley senior hurler Dori Loukopoulos were engaged in a pitcher's duel, as the game remained scoreless until the middle of the fifth inning.

The Wolverines took advantage of a pair of Cabrini errors to score the only four runs of the game.

The Blue and White never found its footing, recording just four base hits in the loss, including two by sophomore Allison Martin.

Byrnes fell to 6-2 on the season after allowing one earned run on four hits.

Game 2: Wesley 2, Cabrini 0
The Cavaliers looked to bounce back in the nightcap, but Wesley's pitching continued to keep the visitors of balance.

Wesley scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third and added an insurance run in the fifth.

The two runs proved to be more than the Cavaliers could handle, as Cabrini went hitless with just three walks.

Sophomore pitcher Grace Stairiker suffered the loss after allowing just two earned runs on nine hits.

The Cavaliers will look to rebound on Friday, when they play host to Neumann. First pitch of the Atlantic East Conference doubleheader is slated for 3pm at Cabrini Field.
