RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini softball team returned to its winning ways today, as the Cavaliers scored a pair of victories over Neumann at Cabrini Field.
The 13-7 and 10-6 victories improved the Blue and White to 13-5 in the Atlantic East and snapped a 13 game losing streak to the Knights.
Sophomore
Grace Stairiker entered the program record book in the night cap, becoming just the 11th pitcher in program history to record 100 career strikeouts.
Game 1: Cabrini 13, Neumann 7
Today's opener seemed to be turning into a pitcher's duel in the early going. Sophomore
Emily Wargo put the Cavaliers on the board in the second inning with a solo home run to left field, her first of the season.
The Knights responded in the second, taking advantage of a Cabrini fielding error to score a pair of runs. Cabrini regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Junior
Casey Scheuren opened the inning with a single up the middle before scoring a single by freshman
Emma Barbera and a subsequent Neumann miscue.
The pitching battle then went by the wayside, as both clubs found their respective offenses. The Knights got it started in the fifth, as a pair of home runs put the visitors ahead 5-3.
Cabrini responded in the bottom of the inning with a pair of round-trippers of its own. Wargo blasted her second big fly of the day, blasting a two run shot over the wall in right center. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, junior
Angel Cintron sent the ball over the right centerfield wall for a grand slam to give Cabrini a 9-5 lead.
The Knights added a run in the top of the sixth, before the Cavaliers further extended their lead in the bottom of the frame. Scheuren's double plated sophomore

Kelsey Huling closed the Blue and White's scoring with a two RBI double.
Scheuren paced the Cabrini offense with a 4-4 outing with three RBI, while Huling went 3-4 with three RBI. Freshman
Avery Byrnes improved to 7-2 on the season after striking out six over seven innings of work.
Game 2: Cabrini 10, Neumann 6
The Cavaliers grabbed an early lead, as RBI singles by freshman
Madison Gugel and sophomore
Kaitlyn Martin gave the home team a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
The Blue and White capitalized on a pair of Neumann miscues to add four runs in the second. Sophomore
Kadirah Williams reached on an error to open the inning, before scoring on another error.
Allison Martin's single then scored Barbera before
Kaitlyn Martin's double scored two.
The Knights found their power stroke in the third, using a pair of two run homers to pull to within 6-5. Cabrini responded with a two out run in the third, as Gugel's single plated Barbera.
Stairiker reached her century milestone in the fourth, as the Blue and White maintained its slim lead until the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded and no outs, Barbera reached on an infield error that allowed Scheuren and freshman
Samantha Taddei to score, extending the lead to 10-6.
Stairiker improved to 4-3 with the victory, after surrendering six earned runs on 11 hits.
Kaitlyn Martin went 3-4 with three RBI, while Gugel,
Allison Martin, Wargo and Scheuren added two base knock each.
The Cavaliers will try to stay hot as they face these same Neumann Knights again on Saturday. The return doubleheader will begin at 12pm in Aston, PA.
