Baseball Opens Three Game Series With 15-4 Victory Over Neumann

ASTON, PA - The Cabrini baseball team coasted to a comfortable 15-4 victory over Neumann University on Friday evening to move to 9-6 overall and 7-2 in AEC competition.

As mentioned, the Cavs tallied 15 runs on 20 hits, marking their fourth game this season with at least 15 men touching home plate. Senior Steven Priest paced the offensive charge as he finished 4-4, including his team leading eighth double on the year, with a game high six RBIs. Classmate Justin Henry drove in three runners after adding three hits, including a pair of doubles, while senior Mack McKisson finished 4-6 with four runs scored and two RBIs, including his first triple of the season.

Sophomore Earl Kochel IV and junior Garrett Laraia rounded out the Cavs with multi-hit performances with four and two hits, respectively.

Junior Jonathan Baker picked up his team leading fifth win of the season after tossing 6.1 innings of four run ball. The righty allowed seven hits and three walks, while striking out six. Freshman John Roberts closed the door for Cabrini with 2.2 clean innings of relief.

The Blue and White jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, highlighted by McKisson's RBI tirple to left center, and pushed their lead to 6-0 in the fourth courtesy of a sac fly from Priest.

Neumann trimmed the Cavs' lead to 6-4 in the ensuing frame, however as the Knights picked up a pair of two RBI singles.

Cabrini busted the game open with an eight run seventh inning to balloon the lead to 15-4. The offense worked station to station as they produced nine hits and sent 12 men to the plate, but a two RBI double to center off the bat of Priest served as the inning's big blow.

Following today's game, the Diamond Cavs improve to 9-6 overall and 7-2 in Atlantic East Conference play. They will cap their series against the Knights with a double dip tomorrow, beginning at noon.
