RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team used a narrow 5-4 final this afternoon to earn their first victory of the Spring season.
Senior
Ben Mead and sophomore
Mason Bennetch handed the Cavs their first point of the day with a convincing 8-0 final in No. 1 doubles. The senior duo of
Max Schneider and
Dalton Roberto narrowly missed a victory in No. 2 doubles, but Gwynedd's Tommy Moore and Justin Collins hung on for a thrilling 9-8 (10-7) win. A Cavalier forfeit in the No. 3 slot put the Griffins up 2-1 entering singles play.
The Cavs controlled the much of the singles action as they swept through the first four flights. Mead and Bennetch earned swift 6-0, 6-0 decisions, while Schneider cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 final. Roberto rounded out the Cavs singles winners with a 6-0, 6-2 decision to secure the match win for the Blue and White.
Following today's action, the Cavaliers move to 1-0 overall while also securing their first conference victory. They will face a quick turnaround when they next travel to Scranton, PA to face Marywood University on Saturday, April 10th. Match time is slated for 1pm.
