CHESTER, PA - The Cabrini University women's soccer team was defeated by the slimmest of margins, 1-0, at Widener University this evening.
The Cavalier offense generated nine shots, including five shots on frame, while also holding a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Graduate student
Brianna Blair paced the Blue and White's offense with three shots, two on net, and junior
Rebekah Cunningham also put two shots on frame.
The Cavs back line did well to limit the Pride offensively in the first half as they held the home team to just four shots on goal and one corner. Despite the strong play by Cabrini's defense, Widener's Alyssa Carman managed to sneak a shot past senior
Ashley Tutzauer in the 36th minute.
Tutzauer played lights-out over the final 45 minutes as she kept Cabrini's hopes of a comeback alive through the remained of the game with five of her six saves coming in the second half.
Widener netminder Samantha Coon made six saves for the shutout and the win.
Following today's match, the Blue and White fell to 2-3-1 on the season. They will look to rebound on Saturday, September 25h as they host Lebanon Valley College. Game time is slated for 3pm.
