WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team snapped its four game winless streak today, with a 3-1 win at King's College.
Senior
Tyler Jankowski scored a pair of goals , while sophomore
Nick LoBiondo added two assists, as the Blue and White improved to 5-3-1.
The senior made his first mark in the scoring column in the seventh minute, as LoBiondo's cross eluded the King's goaltender, finding Jankowski for a tap-in.
Cabrini maintained its lead until the final minutes of the first half, when Liam Yair leveled the score with a 25 yard blast that sent the teams into the halftime break deadlocked at 1-1.
The Cavaliers climbed in front for good in the 57th minute, when senior
Nick Booth's pass connected with Jankowski for the senior's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Just a few minutes later, the Blue and White put the game on ice in the 60th minute, as LoBiondo's pass found freshman
Trent Valle on the doorstep to secure his first career goal and the Blue and White victory.
The Monarchs owned a slim 16-14 advantage in shots on the day, with sophomore
Jalen Hammond recording three, one more than LoBiondo, Jankowski and junior
Matt Duddy.
Sophomore goaltender
Griff Rogers was needed for just one save to earn the win.
The Blue and White will return to Edith Robb Dixon field on Wednesday, as they look to defend their home turf against Alvernia. Kickoff is slated for 7pm.
