RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team could not carry its offensive rhythm from Saturday's win at King's back to its home turf, as the Cavaliers suffered a 2-0 loss to Alvernia tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
While the Blue and White recorded just one shot less than the visitors, 7-6, the home side could not take advantage of the opportunities it created.
Alvernia opened the scoring in the 30
th minute, when senior Ryan Kuster converted a penalty kick. Despite trailing 1-0 at the half, Cabrini's defensive effort remained strong, as the team defended five first half corner kicks.
While the Cavaliers pressed to level the score in the second half, they could muster only two shot attempts after the break and force three corners.
The Golden Wolves took advantage, extending their lead in the 65
th minute on one of only three second half shot attempts.
Senior
Christian Rafter accounted for two of Cabrini's six shots on the day, while four other Cavaliers recorded one each. Sophomore goaltender
Griff Rogers tallied a pair of saves in the loss.
Cabrini will hit the road on Saturday, as it travels south to the Baltimore area to face Stevenson. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm in Stevenson, MD.
