CENTER VALLEY, PA - The Cabrini men's soccer team scored all three of its goals in the second half, and more specifically, in the final 24 minutes, as the Cavaliers earned a 3-1 win at DeSales this afternoon.
The win improves the Blue and White to 3-0 on the young season.
After 66 scoreless minutes, Cabrini finally figured out the Bulldogs defense as sophomore
Nick LoBiondo's centering pass found senor
Dakota Bauer for his second goal of the season.
The lead was short-lived, as the home side answered, courtesy of Tristen Castellani, less than two minutes later.
Both teams pressed to break the tie, and it was the Blue and White whose efforts paid off. Junior
Jake Scully's long throw in found senior
Josh Cunningham, who flicked the ball to classmate
Christian Rafter. The senior's second marker of the season broke the deadlock and proved to be the difference.
The Cavaliers added an insurance goal with just under six minutes to play, as another long Scully throw-in found senior
Nick Booth for a header goal, his first of the season.
Sophomore goaltender
Griff Rogers earned his first career victory after recording two saves in 49 minutes of action.
Both squads recorded 14 shots on the day, with freshman
Trent Valle attempting a team high three for the Cavaliers.
Cabrini will look to extend its hot start this weekend, when it welcomes a pair of tough nonconference opponents to Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Cavaliers will host William Paterson on Friday and Randolph-Macon on Saturday. Kickoff for both games is slated for 4pm.
