RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini swim teams completed the second leg of this weekend's back to back meets today, as the Cavaliers welcomes Cedar Crest and Widener to the Dixon Center Pool.
The Blue and White women topped Cedar Crest 178-70 but fell to Widener 162-94. Likewise, the men suffered a 149-111 loss to the Pride.
Graduate student
Tara McCloskey and senior
Maddie Werndl led the women's squad, combining for five individual event wins.
McCloskey scored victories in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events, reaching the wall in 1:08.94 and 2:30.21, respectively, before posting a victorious time of 2:19.72 in the 200-yard individual medley.
Werndl added victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:48.03) and 500-yard freestyle (5:42.80). The senior also notched a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:29.34).
Fellow senior
Sarah Gudas notched a pair of second place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, posting times of 26.18 and 57.76.
Freshman
Kate Ziegler recorded a trio of bronze finishes, placing third in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly.
The men matched the women's event win total, with five swimmers accounting for the five victories.
Sophomore
Tommy Ronayne led the way with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.91) and scored second place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle.
Classmate
Tom McLaughlin posted a winning time of 57.48 in the 100-yard backstroke and claimed third place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.
The trio of seniors
Mac Granto and
Cameron Mousley joined sophomore
Matt Seifried with a win and third place finish each.
Granto won the 100-yard freestyle (48.74) and finished third in the 50-yard freestyle, while Mousley captured the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.64) and a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Seifried closed the day with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:48.31) and a bronze finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
The Cavaliers will close their regular season next Saturday, as they host Marywood and Gallaudet in Atlantic East Conference action. The action will get underway at 1pm in the Dixon Center Pool.
