RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini swim teams closed their regular seasons with an exclamation mark, as the Cavaliers cruised to Senior Day victories over Gallaudet and Marywood.
The women scored 148-30 and 125-60 wins over the Bison and Pacers, respectively, while the men topped Gallaudet 133-58 and Marywood 137-37.
Today also marked the final home meet for Cabrini's six seniors,
Tara Frino,
Mac Granto,
Sarah Gudas,
Tara McCloskey,
Cameron Mousley and
Maddie Werndl. A group that has been an integral part of the growth of the Cabrini men's and women's swimming programs, this class has led the Cavaliers to a combined five Atlantic East Conference championships over the last three years and combined to earn 76 All-Atlantic East Conference awards and break 13 program records.
The group participated in 12 individual and relay victories today, as the Blue and White scored wins in 19 of today's 22 events.
On the women's side, Werndl claimed a trio of triumphs, reaching the wall first in the 1.000-yard, 500-yard and 200-yard freestyle events with times of 11:53.55, 5:44.82 and 2:07.37.
Gudas and McCloskey added a pair of wins on the day. Gudas posted victorious times of 26.90 and 58.11 in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles, while McCloskey earned gold in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.93) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.96).
Frino notched a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.24) and joined sophomore Jennifer Alison and freshmen
Camryn Ratchford and
Abby Windon for a silver finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
McCloskey, Frino and Gudas also teamed with freshman
Kate Ziegler for a victorious performance in the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.8).
Mousley led the men to victory, scoring wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.92) and 500-yard freestyle (4:59.0). He also teamed with freshman
CJ LaBianco and sophomores
Kenneth Lok and
Tom McLaughlin to win the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:36.28).
Sophomore
Michael Gray recorded victorious efforts in the 100-yard freestyle (49.78) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.30).
Granto notched a win in the 50-yard freestyle (23.11), joining McLaughlin and classmates
Tommy Ronayne and
Matt Seifried, who claimed wins in the 100-yard backstroke (59.12), 200-yard individual medley (2:02.61) and 100-yard butterfly (56.98), respectively.
The foursome of McLaughlin, Gray, Seifried and Granto also scored a win in the 200-yard medley relay, reaching the wall in 1:43.36.
The Cavaliers will now shift their focus to training for the upcoming 2022 Atlantic East Conference championships, scheduled for Feb. 11-13 in Scranton, PA.
