PURCHASE, N.Y. – Six different players scored goals as the Cabrini University field hockey team opened Atlantic East Conference play with a 9-2 victory over Manhattanville on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman forward Maggie Cella, freshman midfielder Julia Flaherty and junior midfielder Daly Ewing each had two goals, while senior midfielder Olivia Sims, sophomore midfielder Adrianna Jones and junior midfielder Caroline Gallagher each netted goals as Cabrini (8-3, 1-0 AEC) had a 23-6 edge in shots on the afternoon.
Jones had three assists, with Sims and Gallagher each getting two.
Cabrini had a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, as Cella scored 1:08 into the game on an assist by Sims. Ewing then scored her two goals at 3:26 and 10:13 for a 3-0 lead, followed by goals from Sims at 11:34 and Gallagher, on an assist by Jones at 14:13.
Flaherty scored both of her goals in the third quarter for Cabrini, who will host Saint Mary's College of Maryland next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
