SAINT DAVIDS, PA. – The Cabrini University men's basketball team fell to Eastern University 86-57 Tuesday night at the Eastern University Gymnasium in this year's edition of the Battle of Eagle Road.
The Cavaliers (1-2) fell behind early as Eastern got out to a 9-2 lead within the first three minutes of action, forcing a Cabrini timeout. Following the timeout, the Cavs battled back as Ahmadu Sarnor scored four points on back-to-back possessions with a lay-in and two free throws and by the 13:45 mark, the game was knotted at 11 apiece. Over the next five minutes, the Eagles (4-0) went on a 10-0 run and took a 21-11 advantage with 8:47 left. The Cavs trimmed the Eagles lead to just four with 3:08 left in the half, but Eastern took a 36-26 lead into the break.
Following the break, the Cavs trimmed the Eastern lead to 42-35 at the 15:41 mark, making it a two-possession game. Over the next 10:00, the Eagles went on a 31-15 run to take a 74-50 lead and all but sealed the win for the other side of Eagle Road.
Sarnor led all scorers on the night with 13 points and grabbed eight boards while Donoven Mack recorded his first double digit scoring line with 10 points.
The Cavaliers will be back on the hardwood on Thursday, Nov. 17 as Cabrini heads to Elizabethtown for a non-conference bout with the Blue Jays. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
