ELIZABETHTOWN, PA. – The Cabrini University men's basketball team fell to Elizabethtown College 81-65 in an Atlantic East-Landmark Conference crossover contest at Thompson Gymnasium Thursday night.
The Cavaliers (1-3) got out to a slow start as Elizabethtown began the game with eight straight points before Cabrini could put up a point. At the 17:15 mark,
Ryan Byars scored on a steal to get the Cavs on the board. With 11:46 left in the half, the Blue Jays (1-2) took a 20-11 lead, but Cabrini battled back and went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to get within one, 21-20 in favor of Etown, but by the break, the Blue Jays held a 43-39 edge.
Etown struck first in the second half, but Cabrini was able to keep it close for much of the first 10:00 as the Cavs got within three, 49-46, at the 13:48 mark. This was the closest the Cavaliers would get as the Blue Jays kept it at two or more possessions for the rest of the contest.
Aquil Stewart's 19 points were tied with Etown's Dylan Rowe for the night's leading scorers. Byars and
Patrick Campbell joined Stewart in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively.
The Cabrini men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 19 as the Cavaliers return home to face Brooklyn College in the Nerney Field House. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
