SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Cabrini outscored Misericordia 20-10 in the final quarter but it was not enough as the Cougars (4-0) defeated the Cavs (1-2) 67-59 in the opening round of the National Beef Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Susquehanna University.

The Cavs will take on Gallaudet University in the consolation game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

For Cabrini, Miranda Liebtag and Giana Rullo each had 12 points, while Brielle Fitzpatrick and Katie Rodriguez each had 11.

Alyssa Bondi had 21 points for Misericordia, while Gianna Delfino had 14.

Liebtag also had 11 rebounds for the Cavs.

Cabrini made a late charge in the fourth quarter, going on a 7-0 run over a span of 1:40 in the final quarter. The run got the Cavs to within six at 65-59, but, they would not get any closer.

After a layup by Fitzpatrick in the opening quarter got the Cavs to within one at 5-4, Misericordia went on a 6-0 run to take an 11-4 lead with 5:26 left in the opening stanza. Cabrini, however, would answer back and tie the score at 13-all and then 15-all as Rullo scored on a layup with 57 seconds left.

The Cougars would end the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 22-15 lead after one quarter.

Misericordia would push the lead into double digits at 24-16 with 9:05 left on a layup by Santacroce.

Cabrini would get no closer than seven the rest of the half, with the last instance coming at 29-22 on a layup by Rodriguez with 4:54 left in the second.
