SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A 47-point second half was more than enough for the Cabrini University women's basketball team as the Cavs (2-2) took the consolation game of the National Beef Tip-Off Tournament with an 84-40 win over Gallaudet (0-2) Sunday afternoon at Susquehanna University.
The Cavs outscored the Bison 47-15 in the second half, breaking open a 37-25 halftime lead.
Miranda Liebtag scored 22 points, a game-high, on 10-for-17 shooting, while Abby Paolini added in 18 on 7-for-11 shooting including 4-for-8 from three-point land. Cabrini finished 35-for-72 from the field (48.6 percent) in the game, including a 10-for-16 mark in the third quarter (62.5 percent). For her efforts, Liebtag was named to the All-Tournament team.
Brielle Fitzpatrick also added in 15 points for Cabrini.
Gallaudet was led by 18 points from Cassidy Perry, who scored all of her points coming off the bench.
Cabrini had 18 steals on the day, with Giana Rullo getting six and Liebtag getting five.
The Cavs trailed just once as Gallaudet scored the opening basket, before then outscoring the Bison by a 14-4 run to go up 14-6 with 3:38 left in the first quarter. The Cabrini lead went into double digits at 26-16 with 6:57 left in the second quarter as Paolini scored on a layup.
Cabrini opens its home schedule on Tuesday, taking on Albright at 6 p.m.
