RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University men's basketball team remained undefeated at home this season as the Cavaliers topped Goucher College 86-60 Monday afternoon in Nerney Field House.
The Cavaliers (4-6) got out to a 12-2 advantage within the first 5:00 of action. The Cabrini lead continued to grow as an
Ahmadu Sarnor triple gave the Cavs a 23-7 edge with 10:50 left in the half. By the 3:48 mark,
Christian Lane connected from long range and extended the Cavs lead to 40-18. The Gophers deficit reached 26 after Sarnor connected on a jumper, but Goucher's Mal Graham made a 3-pointer at the end of the half to cut the Cabrini lead to 23.
Sarnor finished the first half with 12 points and 10 boards while
Aquil Stewart and Lane each tallied double figure points (10) in the first 20:00.
After the break, Cabrini's lead continued to mount as it reached 28 after another triple from Lane with 15:44 left in regulation. By the 7:07 mark, the Gophers (2-8) cut the Cavaliers lead to 19, but over the next four minutes Cabrini went on a 20-6 run capped off by a 3-point field goal from Jaden Blakey as the Cavs took an 86-53 lead, their largest of the game. Despite a late 7-0 run from Goucher, Cabrini came out on top 86-60.
Four Cavaliers finished with double figure points as Sarnor led the way with 23, tying his season high.
Aquil Stewart finished with 14 while
Ryan Byars tallied 11. Lane recorded his second straight contest with double digit points as the senior put up 16, going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
The Cabrini men's basketball team will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 29 as the Cavaliers head to Newport News, Va. to face the No. 1-ranked Christopher Newport University Captains in the CNU Captains Shootout. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
