GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Cabrini University men's basketball team dropped its first game of December Monday night as the Cavaliers fell to Rowan University 103-84 on the road.
The Cavaliers (3-5) trailed for the first eight minutes of the first half but with 12:00 left before the break, sophomore
Aquil Stewart knocked down a 3-pointer to knot the game at 19 apiece. After Rowan converted just one free throw,
Christian Lane gave the Cavs a 22-20 lead with a 3-ball of his own with 11:03 left in the half. With 2:00 left,
Ahmadu Sarnor hit a jumper from long range to put Cabrini up 44-42 and sparked a 10-4 run to finish the half and take a 51-46 lead into the intermission.
The Profs (5-2) began the second half on a 14-9 run and tied the contest at 60 apiece with 15:00 left in regulation. With 10:00 left, a
Jaden Dickerson jumper put the Cavs ahead 71-70 but the Profs quickly responded and regained a lead that they did not relinquish. The Profs outscored the Cavs 31-13 over the final 10:00 of action as a Damian Smith triple with 25 seconds left put the game on ice for Rowan.
Sarnor led all Cabrini scorers on the night as the sophomore put up 22 points for the third consecutive game and added 10 boards for his first double-double of the season. Stewart and
Donoven Mack joined Sarnor in double figures as the pair each put up 15 points.
Rowan's Je'Zere Noel led all scorers on the night with 25 points.
Cabrini will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 8 as the Cavaliers head to Lancaster Bible for a non-conference contest with the Chargers. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
