RADNOR, PA – After a slow start, the Cabrini women's lacrosse team found its rhythm and cruised to a season-opening 17-7 win over Albright today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
Senior
Dana Carlson paced the Blue and White attack with seven goals, while classmate
Olivia Little scored twice and handed out six assists. Little also added four draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers to her stat line.
Sophomore
Olivia Pace notched a pair of goals, while senior
Kelly Sweeney added a goal and an assist. Like Little, senior
Shea Neary stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, a game high four caused turnovers, three draw controls and two ground balls.
Defensively, freshman
Morgan McClintock caused three Lions' miscues and scooped four ground balls, while senior goaltender
Sam Hamalak was called on for just two saves to earn the victory.
The Cavaliers wasted little time in jumping on the scoreboard, as Neary converted a free postion shot 92 seconds into the game. The Lions responded with three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead with just under five minutes left in the stanza.

Jackie Neary called a timeout to refocus her squad and it worked like a charm. Eighty seconds later, Sweeney found the back of the net, with Little converting a free position shot at the 1:55 mark to even the score.
The Cavaliers carried their momentum into the second and third quarters, recording nine unanswered goals.
The Blue and White outshot the visitors 9-0 in the second quarter, extending its lead to 7-3 at the half. The scoring spurt carried into the third, as Carlson, Little and Pace marked the scoring column, pushing the lead to 10-3 just 2:34 into the third.
The Lions tried to post a comeback with a pair of goals midway through the stanza, but Pace and Carlson responded with five consecutive goals spanning the third and fourth quarters to give the home side a 16-5 advantage with just 9:20 to play.
Freshman
Neve Murphy added her name the scorebook with her first career marker in the final period.
The Cavaliers outshot the Lions 26-16, including 19-4 in the second and third quarters. The Blue and White also converted seven of its 10 free position shots, with Little, Pace and Neary scoring two free position goals each.
Senior Lauren China and sophomore Katelyn Patrick recorded two goals and an assist each for Albright.
The Cavaliers will head south for their next two contest, as Cabrini will face Webber International on Tuesday in Babson Park, FL and University of Tampa on Thursday in Tampa.
