RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini University women's tennis team picked up it's first victory of the season with a 7-2 decision over Bryn Athyn University this afternoon.
With the win the Cavaliers improve their record to 1-2 on the young season and head coach
Anthony Santonastaso recorded his first career victory at the collegiate level.
In flight No. 1, senior
Raechel Aviles recorded the team's first victory of the day. After being narrowled edged out 7-5 in the first set, Aviles evened the score with a 7-5 victory of her own before winning the tiebreaker.
The Lions took the No. 2 single's match, but the Cavaliers picked up big wins in No. 3 through No. 6. Junior
Syd Kesselman recorded a 6-0, 6-2 decision over Bryn Athyn's Nicole Kaczorek in No. 3 singles.
Sophomore
Kara Bradl (No. 4 singles), junior
Fanta Bility (No. 4 singles) and senior
Caroline Boileau (No. 6 singles) earned key victories over their opponents, winning 6-1 / 6-0, 6-0 / 6-0 and 6-4, 6-2, respectively.
In doubles play, the Lions again captured the No. 1 match, but a big wins from Bell and Kesselman in No. 2 doubles along with Bility and Boileau in No. 3 doubles gave the Cavs all they needed to secure the 7-2 match victory.
The Blue and White will be back in action this Friday as they host the Arcadia Knights at 2PM.
