Diamond Cavs Score Season High 28 Runs in Victory at Cairn

Peralta records fifth homerun of the year, McKisson ties season high with six RBIs

LANGHORNE, PA - The Cabrini baseball team coasted to their most lopsided victory in program history this afternoon over host Cairn University.

The Cavaliers needed just 20 hits to push across 28 runs as the offense grinded out a season best 14 walks, as ten different Cavs tallied at least one walk.

Senior Mack McKisson led the way offensively as he went three-for-four for a game high six RBI's, one stolen base and two runs scored. Fellow senior, Gil Peralta clubbed his fifth homer of the season to put himself in a tie for the team lead in home runs and finished the game with three RBIs. Classmate Dustin Sutton recorded matched McKisson with a team high three hits as the senior finished 3-5 with three runs and one RBI.

Senior Garrett Laraia also had a multi-hit afternoon as he went two-for-four from the plate with three RBI's. Freshman Billy D'Ambrosia matched Laraia with two hits and three RBI as he went a perfect two-for-two at bat.

Freshman Brian Dino earned the start and his first career victory for the Blue and White as he allowed one run on two hits in seven innings of work. Freshman Brett Harrelle and Joey Moyer combined for the final two innings.

Sophomore Kyle Krautstrunk and freshamn Ben Houghton registered their first career hits, a RBI-double and single, respectively.

The Cavs took an early 2-0 lead after the opening frame thanks to Peralta's aforementioned fifth home run of the year.

After a 1-2-3 second inning for both teams, the Cavs managed to increase their lead to three thanks to a walk, hit by pitch, pass ball and finally a sacrifice fly by Peralta, 3-0.

Cabrini widened their margin in the top of the fourth as the Cavs put up four runs, highlighted by a two RBI single from McKisson.

The Highlanders got themselves on the board in the bottom of the fourth but the Diamond Cavs would add four runs over the next three innings before a whopping 14 runs, on nine hits, in the top of the eighth, 25-1. A pair of three-RBI doubles from McKisson and freshman Sean Glatts highlighted the explosive eighth inning.

The Blue and White outscored Cairn 3-2 over the final 1.5 innings, to trot away with their most runs scored since a 29-11 drubbing of Delaware Valley University back in April of 2019.

Following today's game, the Diamond Cavs improve to 16-5 overall. They will return home this Friday for a matchup with No. 7 Rowan University on April 1st. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
