Women's Lacrosse Offense Stays Hot in AEC Opener

IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse picked up where it ended Tuesday's win over Stockton. Just 48 hours after scoring 21 goals, the Cavaliers' offense stayed hot as the club rolled to a 25-12 victory at Immaculata in the Atlantic East Conference opener for both teams.

Nine Cavaliers marked the scoring column in today's win, led by senior Dana Carlson, who matched a season high with seven goals en route to nine points, six draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Senior Olivia Little added seven points, including five goals on six shots, to go with five ground balls, four caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.

Classmate Shea Neary etched her name in the Blue and White record book, as her five points secured her place in the 100 career point club, while her two caused turnovers made just the seventh player in program history to reach 100 caused turnovers.

Graduate student and freshman Morgan McClintock added four point each, combining for five goals, while sophomore Marissa Mullan added a goal and two helpers.

Senior goaltender Sam Hamalak paired eight saves and three ground balls to secure the victory.

The game got off to a hot start, as the teams combined for six goals in the opening 4:30. The Cavaliers broke the 3-3 deadlock with four unanswered goals, including women-down markers by Neary and Mullan.

The Mighty Macs battled back, pulling to within 8-5 after the first quarter.

McClintock and Carlson added goals early in the second, but it was a 5-0 spurt midway though the period that gave Cabrini control of the game. Senior Victoria Zielke, Neary and Carlson marked the scoring column, as Cabrini pushed its lead to 15-6.

The halftime break did nothing to slow the Cavaliers, as the squad scored the first two goals and the final three of their third quarter, building a 21-10 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

The Cavaliers recorded a season high 48 shots, including a season best 14 free position shots, to go with 14 caused turnovers. Sophomore Caroline Gallagher accounted for 3 of Cabrini's forced miscues, while junior Jess Ruk joined Carlson and Neary
with two each.

Tessa Liberatoscioli led the Mighty Macs with five goals and 15 draw controls, while Jackie Murray added four goals and seven draw controls. Goaltender Ashley Finkbinker paired eight saves and three ground balls in the loss.

The Cavaliers will look to extend their win streak on Saturday, when they host Rowan University in nonconference action. The opening draw is slated for 1pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
