RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini softball team extended its current win streak to eight games with a pair of dominant wins over Centenary University today at Cabrini Field.
With just two conference games remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers own an 8-2 mark and sit in second place, one game behind Marywood.
In the opener, junior pitcher
Avery Byrnes put on another dominant performance, recording her second no hitter in her last three starts, while seniors
Kaitlyn Martin and
Emily Wargo provided the offense with the long ball.
The Blue and White used the long ball in the nightcap, as well, as sophomore
Kelsey Huling and Wargo hit back to back home runs in the fifth, providing more offense than freshman pitcher
Sammi Sisolak needed to earn the win.
The Cavaliers will close their regular season conference slate on Saturday, when they celebrate Senior Day with a visit from Neumann University. First pitch is slated for 12 noon at Cabrini field.
Game One: Cabrini 10, Centenary 0
Cabrini jumped ahead early, as sophomore
Ariana Mirenda opened with a double. Two batters later, Martin blasted a two-run homer over the centerfield wall.
That was all the offense Byrnes needed, as the junior was dealing today. She hit a batter to open the second inning, the only batter that stood between her and second perfect game of the season. Byrnes regrouped immediately, striking out the side.
The Cavaliers held their 2-0 lead until exploding in the fifth with a two out rally. With the bases loaded, Mirenda singled, scoring sophomore
Emma Barbera and senior
Allison Martin. Sophomore
Madison Gugel's infield single plated freshman
Dorian Ilyes before
Kaitlyn Martin's single drove in Mirenda and Gugel.
Following a walk to sophomore
Sam Kilson, Wargo put the game to bed with a three run blast over the centerfield fence for her first home run of the campaign.
Mirenda, Huling and
Kaitlyn Martin tallied three hits each and combined to drive in nine runs. Byrnes improved to 10-5 on the season after striking out 10.

The Cyclones made their way onto the scoreboard in the fourth, as junior Chloe Wright's single plated classmate Dara Murphy.
Cabrini got the runs back in the fifth with a pair of home runs. Gugel,
Kaitlyn Martin and Stotler loaded the bases with one out before Huling blasted her second home run of the season, a grand slam, over the center field wall.
One batter later, Wargo notched her second homer of the day, sending a shot over the fence in left centerfield.
The Blue and white put the game on ice in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman Abbey Tobelmann, Mirenda and sophomore
Sam Taddei opened the inning with consecutive singles, before freshman
Holly Smith's walkoff single ended the game.
Ten Cavaliers accounted for the team's 12 hits, with Mirenda and Wargo notching a pair of base knocks. Sisolak posted another efficient victory, scattering eight hits and allowing one earned run to improve to 8-3.
