RADNOR, PA – The No. 12 Cavaliers built a commanding first quarter lead, but needed its fourth quarter defense to earn an 11-9 win over Scranton today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
With the win, Cabrini closed the regular season with a 13-4 record.
It took led than a minute for the Blue and White to secure control of the action, as junior
Austin Bolton opened the scores 43 seconds into the game. Senior faceoff specialist
Jake Huey won the ensuing faceoff and doubled the lead five seconds later.

Dillon McManus added goals, as Cabrini's lead swelled to 5-0 midway through the first quarter.
Following Scranton's first goal, junior
Mikey Vanaman marked the score sheet, handing the home team a 6-1 lead after the first quarter.
After a dominating performance in the first half that saw Cabrini outshoot its visitors 18-2, the Royals found their rhythm in the second period. Scranton won four of the six faceoffs in the quarter and outshot the Cavaliers 12-7, scoring four unanswered goals to pull within 6-5.
Vanaman found sophomore
Max Drift for an extra man goal in the final minute of the half, sending the team's into the halftime break with Cabrini ahead 7-5.
The Royals completed their comeback early in the third quarter, as sophomore Chris Crapanzano scored back to back goals to even the score at 7-7 with 9:55 to play in the third. Vanaman broke the deadlock at the 7:33 mark, handing the Cavaliers a lead they would not relinquish.
The one goal cushion stood until midway in the fourth quarter, when Bolton and senior
Zack Kaut pushed the lead to 10-7 with 5:30 to play.
The visitors looked to make a late comeback, as junior Mitchel Kozak scored his third goal of the game with 2:45 to play, but senior
Evan Trizonis pushed the lead back to three one minute later.
Bolton and Vanaman tallied four points each, with both recording two goals and two assists, while Drift paired a goal and a helper.
Huey went 12-24 at the faceoff spot with seven ground balls to go with his goal.
Graduate student
Matt Nestler secured the victory after making 14 saves and securing four ground balls. Kaut added two caused turnovers and was one of five Cavaliers to secure three loose ball sin the victory.
Freshman goaltender Evan Rosa posted 18 saves in the loss, while Kozak, Crapanzano and junior Matt Solleder combined to score seven of Scranton's nine goals on the day.
The Cavaliers will now turn their collective focus to the upcoming Atlantic East Conference Tournament. After going a perfect 6-0 in league games, the Blue and White have secured the tournament's top seed and will host a semifinal round game on Wednesday. The game time and opponent have not yet been determined.
