RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini baseball team took a 22-2 decision in game one against Gwynedd Mercy University, thanks to 20 runs in their final four innings and a program record number of RBI from graduate student
Steven Priest to open the 2022 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Tournament.
The No. 2 seeded Cavaliers struck for 22 runs on 15 hits against the No. 3 seeded Griffins to take the AEC Tournament's opening game.
As mentioned, the offense was paced by Priest who finished the day 3-5 with his record breaking eight RBI and three runs scored. The veteran hit one home run and pair of doubles in his record breaking day.

Dustin Sutton and
Gil Peralta also registered three hits apiece. Sutton finished with a 3-4 effort, three RBI and three runs scored, while Peralta went 3-5 from the plate with three runs and an RBI.
Fellow senior
Mack McKisson rounded out the Cavs with multiple hits after tallying two hits, McKisson had a game high four runs and toed the rubber for the Blue and White as he put in eight innings of work on the mound while allowing just two runs and three hits with nine strikeouts for his second win of the year. After two scoreless innings the Griffins scored the first run of the game as they plated one on a balk. Cabrini responded with an RBI double from Sutton followed by an RBI sacrifice fly out from Priest to grab a 2-1 lead through three innings.
After a scoreless fourth, an error in left field, combined with a a walk and sacrifice bunt set the stage for Priest's three RBI long ball for a 5-1 lead through five.
The Diamond Cavs broke the game open with nine runs in the bottom of the sixth as they batted around, highlighted by Priest's double to left center for another three of his eight RBI on the day, 14-1.
Both teams tacked on one additional run over the next inning and a half before Cabrini knocked home seven more in the bottom of the eighth. The inning was highlighted by a two RBI double from Priest followed by a triple from Sutton who advanced home on the play thanks to a throwing error to third base as the Cavs rolled to the aforementioned 22-2 victory.
Following today's action, both teams will travel to Immaculata University. The No. 3 Griffins will open tomorrow's slate at 9AM in an elimination game versus the No. 4 Marymount University Saints. Following the conclusion of the game, the No. 2 Cavs will face No. 1 Immaculata at 12:30PM. The winner of the first game will face the loser of the second game in another elimination match to conclude day two of the three day tournament.
