HAVERFORD, PA – The Cavaliers netted a pair of second half goals, but could not overcome its 3-0 halftime deficit, as the Cabrini men's soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss at Haverford in the season opener for both teams.
The Blue and White struggled to find its rhythm in the opening 45 minutes, as the Fords scored each of their three markers in the first half.
After being outshot 9-2 in the first half, Cabrini found some offensive rhythm after the break. Junior
Nick LoBiondo put the Cavaliers on the board in the 53
rd minute, converting a pass from classmate
Nolan Holloway.
The Blue and White looked to make a late comeback, as freshman
Brian Sharkey found Holloway for an 87
thminute tally. The comeback attempt, however, fell short, Holloway's goal marked the final of Cabrini's nine shots.
LoBiondo led the Blue and White with three shots, one more than freshman
Hunter Rolles. Junior goaltender
MJ Graham notched three saves in the loss.
Paul-Andre Coulibaly paired a goal and an assist for Haverford, while goaltender Dylan Ioffreda matched Graham with three saves.
Cabrini will return to action on Sunday, when it makes its home debut with a visit from Delaware Valley. Kickoff is slated for 11am at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
