RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's volleyball team won its home opener, fending off Lancaster Bible by a 3-0 score.
Set scores were 25-8 and 25-19 in the first two sets in favor of the Cavaliers. However, both teams played a see-saw affair in the third set, with Cabrini eventually coming out on top, 37-35. The third set featured 31 ties and 11 lead changes.
Graduate outside hitter Hannah Dalton led the way for the Cavs with 15 kills and a .355 hitting percentage (15-4-31), while sophomore outside hitter Sam Heenan added in 11 kills and hit .238 (11-6-21).
Senior setter Melanie Cotes-Rivera had 16 assists with senior setter Taylor Downing picking up 11. Defensively, graduate libero Gina Custer had 21 digs on the night with Dalton picking up three blocks.
Morgan Fenstermacher had six kills for the Chargers.
In the third set, Cabrini fended off six set points by the Chargers, before taking a 31-30 lead on an attack error by LBC. The Chargers then held off Cabrini five times, before Cabrini took a 36-35 lead and then won the match on an attack error. Neither team held more than a two-point lead in the third set.
