RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's basketball team ran its win steak to six as the Cavs (9-10, 5-1 Atlantic East) defeated Neumann (10-9, 3-3 Atlantic East) 61-50 on Wednesday night.
Senior guard Miranda Liebtag had 15 points, with junior guard Abby Paolini adding in 11 points.
Junior forward Katie Rodriguez added in ten points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
For Neumann, Lauren Klieber had a game-high 22 points with Terea Hunt scoring 12.
Cabrini pulled away in the first quarter as the Cavs went on a 8-0 run over a span of 2:22 to go up 17-9 win 1:04 left on a jumper by freshman Nicole Villalta-Barrantes.
Leading 19-13 after the first quarter, Cabrini took advantage of a 9-2 run over the first 2:22 to go up 28-15 on a layup by Rodriguez with 7:38 left. Neumann was able to cut it four, with the last instance being with 17 seconds left on a jumper by Jaqueline Wardrop before Paolini hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Cabrini a 34-27 lead at intermission.
In the third quarter, Cabrini kept Neumann at bay – only letting the Knights get to within six at 37-31 with 7:33 left. That would also be the closest the Knights would get the rest of the way.
The win marked the 21st straight victory for the Cavs over Neumann.
Cabrini heads to Marymount on Saturday. Both teams are tied atop the standings, but, Marymount beat the Cavs back on January 4.
