Game Recap: Soccer (Men) |

Men's Soccer Falls to Neumann

A scoreless first half was followed by five goals in the second period, with Neumann claiming the 3-2 victory.

Radnor, PA - On Wednesday night, Cabrini Men's Soccer hosted the Knights of Neumann University. Neumann and Cabrini entered the game even on the season, each carrying a .500 win percentage and a 2-0 Conference record into the match.

The Knights scored the game's first goal six minutes into the second half. Off a free kick try from the left side, Neumann played a cross into the goal box that found the head of their top goal scorer.

Cabrini netted the equalizer two minutes later. After John Ameyaw drew a foul near the right sideline, Jake Scully set up for the free kick. Scully tucked a shot inside the near post, untouched by any Cavaliers or Knights.

Cabrini took a 2-1 lead in the 59th minute of action. On the play, Nick LoBiondo cut the ball inside to find Nolan Holloway just outside the penalty arc. Holloway then played to John Ameyaw, who used three quick touches inside the box to beat the Knight's goalkeeper far post.

The Cavaliers held their advantage until the 70th minute, when the Knights countered with a corner kick goal. Neumann played a right side corner kick into the goal box, then headed the equalizer high left into Cabrini's net.

The Knights made use of another set piece to retake the lead. Just past midfield, Neumann earned a free kick. The Knights made the next two touches, first a header from near the penalty marker, then a sliding strike in front of the left post. The double-assisted goal was punched into the left side of the net, putting Neumann in front 3-2.

Cabrini nearly evened the score with seven minutes remaining. On the attempt, Nick LoBiondo sent a cross from the left sideline to Matt Duddy, whose header from nine yards out narrowly missed the goal frame.

Neumann held on for the victory, awarding them sole possession of first place in the Atlantic East Conference standings.

Cabrini will head to Scranton on Saturday. Their match against Marywood kicks off at 1 pm.
