Scranton, PA - On Saturday afternoon, Cabrini traveled to face the Pacers of Marywood University. Cabrini entered the match 2-1 in Atlantic East Conference games, good for third in the AEC standings.
Marywood got on the board just 55 seconds into play. An early foul awarded the Pacers a free kick from just outside the box, which they punched directly into the right side of the goal.
Cabrini was able to respond in the 15th minute. As
Jake Scully poked a ball away,
Ethan Emery was first to it and played a through ball ahead to
John Ameyaw. Ameyaw carried to the left corner, then sent a cross above the box.
Nolan Holloway received at the penalty arc, and buried the head-on shot inside the left post.
Midway through the second half, Marywood converted another free kick attempt. The Pacers' shot curled past the Cavs' 3-man wall and found the right webbing of Cabrini's goal, giving them a 2-1 lead.
With 15 minutes remaining, Marywood extended their advantage. The Pacers used a free kick to set up a shot from 25 yards out, which Marywood scored their third goal on.
Despite four shots in the last 5 minutes of action, Cabrini was unable to score in the second half. The Cavaliers attempted 8 shots in the contest.
Cabrini returns to action Wednesday 10/18 against Centenary. The match at Edith Robb Dixon field kicks off at 7 pm and will recognize the Cavaliers' senior class.
