Selinsgrove, PA - On Saturday afternoon, Cabrini Men's Basketball squared off against Penn State Harrisburg in their closing game of the National Beef Tip-Off Tournament.
Cabrini entered the consolation game after nearly mounting a comeback against Susquehanna. The Cavaliers successfully tied Friday's game behind an 11-0 run, but a mid-range jumpshot in the closing seconds allowed the River Hawks to survive Cabrini's late rally.
Penn State Harrisburg entered the tournament with a 3-0 record before falling to No. 3 ranked John Carroll in their Friday matchup.
Cabrini struggled to match PSU's efficiency in the opening half, as the Cavaliers entered the break down 12. The Cavs shot 10-28 (35.7%) from the floor and 5-17 from 3 point territory while the Lions were 16-26 (61.5%) overall and 4-8 from deep.
Jayden Blakey led Cabrini's offense at the break with 8 points, while also contributing 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
The second half told a similar story, as PSU-Harrisburg maintained their effectiveness.
The Cavaliers carved away at the Lions' lead after a
Keenan Reiss three and a
Bryan Warren score off a turnover brought the Cavs to within 13. Cabrini completed another 5 point swing late in the contest with a
Keenan Reiss triple and
Donoven Mack pull up jumpshot.
Ultimately, the Lions' impressive shooting splits and work on the glass gave them the 78-53 victory.
Donoven Mack led Cabrini scorers with 12.
Cabrini will host the University of Scranton on Tuesday night at 7pm.
