Radnor, PA - On Tuesday night, Cabrini Men's Basketball hosted the University of Scranton Royals. Despite shooting just 3-18 from three point range, second chance points, fastbreaks, and bench points gave the Cavaliers the comfortable edge needed to secure their first win of their eventual season.
First Half Action
Cabrini opened on the offensive, as
Donoven Mack contributed the game's first four points. Seven minutes in, a
Keenan Reiss 3pt field goal plus an and-one in transition gave the Cavaliers an early double digit lead, 14-3. The Cavs kept their foot on the gas, as
George Marion free throws and a
Jay Bonnet pick-and-pop corner 3 capped off an incredible 23-5 start. Late in the first half,
Bryan Warren scored on consecutive possessions to maintain Cabrini's commanding lead. On his first make, he beat his defender off the dribble to find a floater from the right block, and on the second, he forced a closeout defender to bite on a pump fake before converting a left-handed layup.
Second Half Action
The Royals rounded into form in the second half, led by senior guard Tahaj Parland, who collected 16 points in the period. The Cavaliers successfully maintained their first half cushion behind an even 50% shooting in the second while draining 17 of their 18 free throws.
Cabrini saw four double digit scorers in the contest:
Donoven Mack with 18,
Keenan Reiss and
Bryan Warren with 12, and
George Marion with 11.
Isaac Brady came up big on the glass, as he'd create extra possessions and finish with a game leading 12 rebounds.
Upcoming
Cabrini will host Eastern University on Wednesday, November 29th for the final Men's Basketball game between the Eagle Road rivals.
